How the Australian Book Industry can be a part
of ILD
There are many ways that you can help make this campaign a success.
Register your business with ILP
Here are some ideas to get you started
- If you are a bookshop, support the campaign by giving 5% or more of your in-store sales on Indigenous Literacy Day (September 3, 2008). We have more marketing ideas for bookshops participating in ILD here.
- If you are a publisher or supplier, give a dollar or percentage of invoiced sales on that day.
- Ask for gold coin donations at bookshop events, publisher events, staff meetings or conferences. In 2007 one publisher asked for a gold coin donation at meetings in 2007 and raised over $200 each meeting.
- Encourage your customers and bookclubs to participate in the Readers' Quest.
- Spread the word by incorporating information about the campaign (along with an opportunity to make a donation) at industry conferences and trade shows, in presentations to clients, at schools and libraries.
- Demonstrate your support to others by including campaign messages on your sales receipts, invoices and in mail outs or putting a link to this site on your website.
- Use the campaign as a team building and fundraising opportunity within your workplace.
- Find out more about Indigenous literacy and promote discussion with your friends, family, colleagues.
Please let us know what you are planning to do to support this important industry initiative. We’d like to help generate local support if we can.
